Take the elective in what-ever you find interesting. A year after college you will forget em anyways. ![]()

This has been discussed for years here.
We have only come up with 3 things:
1) Dentist
2) Pharmacist
3) Farmer's Insurance Salesman
Everything else is being taken over by Indian H1B's.
It's not pretty out there.

If you're thinking about IT, be prepared for long periods of unemployment .............................
........... and everything you know today, will be obsolete within two years!

First, if you are twenty-eight you probably have had at least some work. Do you want to continue with that, prehaps moving into management or find something else? If you plan to continue in your current industry, you can take anything though stats are likely to useful and a good grade in math suggests intelligence. Conversely, politically correct courses are likely to put off a conservative potential employer if they find out you took them. Art courses may also, though to a lesser exent.
If you want a hard CS course take data structures or analysis of algorithms. If you want more practical but less deep course take something on databases. Also even if you don't want to be network administrator it is good to know the basics of TCP/IP. Finally, much backend work is down in Java and web development is also good to know.
In summary, there are too many possibilities for anybody to give really good advice here. I'd actually consider asking your boss what he or she thinks would be useful if you plan to stay in the same industry. If you just need credits towards graduation I would take something that interests you and won't tank your GPA. After all, you might never again get your chance to study things like Latin, Theodicy, or Anglo-American analytic philosophy.

I can not answer that question simply because I do not know you. I know nothing of your particular gravitations, motivations, interests, or where your talents lie.
This is a question only YOU can answer. YOU have to discover what best interests, what talents you have, and what excites you. Perhaps it is some time for some introspection and a good long walk with yourself.
In this life YOU are on YOUR OWN. Nobody can , and more to the point, nobody should be telling you to become a garbage collector, lawyer, cop, doctor, or any other vocation. You have to decide that for yourself.

I like I_Wana_Be_IT_KID's answer. After all, what could anyone possibly learn from a calligraphy class? ;-)

Dear Hess,
What's your major and what type of career or work do you want to pursue? College courses are expensive so choose electives that will not only fulfill the graduation requirements but help you succeed at the next level.
Good luck.
