They are quite valuable to the people who create and print training materials, and those who run testing centers!  Keeps them employed!  Also, it allows firms to "DQ" otherwise qualified individuals because they don't happen to have "The Cert" of the day!

Hey, I will play the game if necessary.  I would just like to know in which technology to invest my time, especially if it involves a lot of time.  Plus, the certs that require my paying $3K per cert when multiple certs are required, I simply don't have the financial resources to do that.

The $3k+ certs are required for US IT Pro's, whereas H1B's only need to have a "For Dummies" book in their laps .......................  But wait, aren't the H1B's supposed to be experts in subject matter?  :smileywink:

The cost of the certs for H-1B visa holders are picked up by the body shops.

ACME Safe Company is looking for a Sys Admin who has a Master's degree, multiple MCITP certs, CCDP/CCNP, etc., etc., and 5+ yrs of experience at a firm having a 1,000 node Windows and *nix network ................

Person "A", a US IT Pro meets all of the above requirements easily ....................

Person "B", a worker from a third world country, has 30 days experience at a boot camp

Who do you think ACME will hire?  I'll get you a hint ............  they don't speak very good English!

That's the sad state of IT today .............................
