Job Description

Job Description

Gigantum is building an open-source software platform to enable reproducible, collaborative, and extensible science. We are looking for a junior front end web developer who wants to help us create a simple, beautiful, and professional user interface for the platform.

Responsibilities include :

  • Contributing to the UI/UX while working closely with other developers and designers
  • Designing, writing, and testing production UI code using modern, interactive design standards
  • Investigating new and emerging libraries and frameworks
  • Participating in an agile development process while delivering product on deadlines
  • A high-five with one of the other team members, from time to time

We are looking for developers that have the following:

  • Experience with React and ES6
  • Experience with, or desire to learn Relay and GraphQL
  • Good understanding of Flux, Redux, or MVC
  • Familiarity with CSS preprocessors ( Sass, Less or Stylus)
  • Experience with Webpack and Node
  • A solid understanding of design and testing

Expected hours : Full time, with periods of increased intensity around the dates of major deliverables. Flexible work schedule.

Who are we?

Gigantum is an early-stage startup founded by a team of experienced scientists and entrepreneurs. We are currently supported by contracts from forward-thinking tech companies and government research agencies.

What do we offer?

Compensation: A competitive salary, insurance benefits, and paid time off.

Opportunity: A chance to use what you know and also learn emerging tools and frameworks, while interacting with top researchers in academia and industry.

Atmosphere: A relaxed environment that values individual contributions to the collective effort, regardless of what they wear to work.

How do we interview?

Pretty chill really. An initial get to know you phone call, followed by a technical call to tell you more about our stack and find out what you like to do. After that, no brainteasers but just a simple homework assignment that exercises some skills needed on the job. Finally, an in person interview. That's it!
