Job Description

The Senior Network Engineer will be able to roadmap, research, and implement advanced network technologies from start to finish. The Senior Network Engineer will be working with a team of engineers and support staff to build, deploy, integrate, and operate the production network. The Senior Engineer will perform upgrades and apply fixes of current environment. He/she must be well rounded with full exposure and experience to the entire traffic pattern network, Routing, Switching, Security, VoIP, and Wireless. The Senior Network Engineer will have hands-on responsibility for our development and production networking environments. Individual must be able to convert business requirements into a workable network solution which is then incorporated in the overall system infrastructure.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or relevant technical degree. A combination of education and experience, including through military service will also be considered.
  • 10-12 years of network engineering and administrative experience.
  • 5 years of experience working in an enterprise environment with increasingly complex and progressive experience.
  • Fluent with Cisco IOS.
  • Demonstrated ability in leading networking projects and working with internal and external customers.
  • Experience with: Cisco routers switches, firewalls, Juniper, RSA, Cisco IDP, Load Balancers, Log Management Appliances; Network design and supporting complex networks; Routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, HSRP, MPLS, Site-site VPN and reporting protocol and tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Live within a commutable distance of Herndon, VA.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with Linux.
  • Experience with MRTG, Nagios or other open source NMS and reporting tools.

Physical Requirements:

  • Use of computer terminal and/or laptop computer for 8 or more hours a day.
  • Use of a copy machine, fax machine, and telephone.
  • Frequently required to sit for 7 or more hours per day.
  • The employee is occasionally required to use hands and fingers to operate, handle, and reach.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Vision abilities include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet.
  • Must be able to travel occasionally via car and airplane to remote data center locations, as needed.
  • Must be flexible work after business hours and on weekends when necessary.
